Abstract


Ms. Corazon Aquino, President of the Philippines (1986); Ms. Benazir Bhutto, Prime Mip.ister of Pakistan (1989- August 1990); Ms. Violeta Chamorro, President of Nicaragua (1990) ; Ms. Ertha Pascal-Trouillot, President of Haiti (1990).

All four women came to power through opposition movements against the ruling leaders and the prevailing politics in their countries.
