Abstract
The Middle East is at the moment one of the areas where women's studies are expanding, and women's
organizations are increasing at a fast rate. Over the past three decades or so, an impressive number of women's organizations have appeared on the public arena. With the emergence of civil rights movements in the Arab world in the 1980's and the rise of the Islamic revivalist movements since the mid-1980's, a new phase in feminist thought and practice began to take shape.
