Women and Poverty in Lebanon Within the Context of the Arab World

Kamal Hamdan, Zena Ali Ahmad

Abstract

Recent conferences have underlined the fact that poverty has a gender profile. The Preparatory Committee for the World Summit for Social Development (1995) emphasized the inter-relationship of three core issues: social integration, poverty reduction, and productive employment. The Committee also insisted that the concerns and priorities of women need to be an integral part of all efforts directed towards these three areas of emphasis.
